Our Beliefs

Growing Beliefs, Qualities and Practices of the Riverside County Church of Christ

Who is the Riverside County Church of Christ?

We are a non-denominational Christian Church that does not recognize any central governing body of human authorities, human creeds, proposals, or agreements that are not required by Scripture and that exclude other followers of Christ from fellowship. We believe that the Holy Bible which is comprised of Old and New Testaments is inspired by God’s Holy Spirit and is all that is required by God to lead us in our journey here on earth as we set our hearts and minds on things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God

Why does the Riverside County Church of Christ exist?

We exist to help each other, and family and friends to live in intimate relationship with God.

How do we help each other do this?

We accept, encourage, and urge one another to live in intimate relationship with God by growing in the following Biblical Beliefs, Qualities, and Practices.

Biblical Beliefs
Our relationship with God deepens in intimacy as we grow in the following:

Biblical Beliefs

God
There is one God, eternally existing in three persons:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

(Matthew 6:8-528:19John 14:8-1116:5-15Romans 8:1-17Ephesians 1:13-14Colossians 2:9)

Bible
The Bible (Old and New Testament) is the inspired Word of God, and therefore the

final and only authority in our understanding of God, life, and death (Matthew 5:17-2024:35Acts 2:422 Timothy 3:14-16Hebrews 4:12-142 Peter 1:19-213:15-16)

Humanity
God created human beings in His image for the purpose of living in an intimate relationship with Him. Through our sin, though, we are separated from intimate relationship with God

Salvation
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to offer His righteous life as payment for our sin. Salvation is a free gift of God received through faith and expressed through confession, repentance, and baptism

Transformation
God not only wants to save us, He wants to transform us into the image of His Son. Transformation is initiated by salvation, sustained by God’s grace, and continually develops as our will is brought into ever-increasing alignment with God’s will.

God’s Church
The church is the body of Christ on earth, purchased with His blood, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to love one another as Christ loves us and to reach those separated from God and to mature those who have been restored to Him through Christ

Resurrection
Christ died on the cross and God raised His physical body back to life as promised in Scripture. Jesus came to save us from sin and sin’s consequence which is death.Christ bodily rose from death and all who follow Him will also be bodily raised from death on the last day.

Eternity
Christ will return one day, all will be bodily resurrected, final judgment will be rendered, the image of God will be completely restored within His children, and we will reign with Christ forever.
                    Biblical Qualities

As we live in intimate relationship with God everyday, we grow in these Biblical Qualities of Character that God provides and are seen in the Character of Jesus Christ:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23 NASB).
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-control

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7 NIV).
Power, Self-Discipline

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness: and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV).
Faith, Knowledge, Perseverance, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love (Ephesians 4:2 NIV).
Humility, Gentleness, Patience, Love

                           Biblical Practices
